Let's talk something about New Delhi, within 2 months in New Delhi, I found some interesting things based on my point of view. There are:
- New Delhi has many parks, you can do jogging there or just off fatigue or do other things that make you enjoy. And many of them are free.
- Many drivers like to sound the horn everywhere not only for warning road users (people) but maybe they like to sound the horn, because sometime when you are in the roadside and they have many space to pass but they always sound the horn like you get in their way.
This one of (right) example, but this is for warning the truck driver when we want to outdistance - In every cigarette packages has picture that shown bad lungs and word of warning "Smoking Kills" or "Smokers Die Young". Not only in that package but when you watch films and somebody is smoking so the word of warning "Smoking/Tobacco Kills" will appear. And also they (an unit has authority to do) change bad word in films.
- Male population in New Delhi is more than female population, it proved on Delhi Population that the Total population of Delhi as per 2012 census is 20,438,946 of which male and female are 8,976,410 and 7,776,825 respectively. And now in 2013 maybe more than that or less than that, but the comparison between man and female (I think) is not equal.
- Based on government rules, we have to pay 12.5% tax for food and 20% tax for beverages when you eat or buy some food in restaurant or cafe.
- We can find easily many crows and doves flying, monkeys, chipmunks and cows in the streets. For cows, they believe those are sacred animal so they let them go around only take the milk.
- Auto or rickshaw is one important public transportation in New Delhi besides Metro, Bus or Taxi and etc. Public transportation in New Delhi is so cheaper than my country, but make sure the address you want to go because some of the driver don't know that place or they aforethought to bring you go around so you have to pay more.
taken from Google - Their food is spicy. I like spicy food but I think Indian food has different spicy flavor, a little bit sour so I don't like. And of course for the street food is so cheap, but be careful because many of that street food don't pay attention for the hygiene.
Don't mind his hand.. :D - Many old tombs were made like palace, so it doesn't seem scary and most of them are surrounded by a large garden and beautiful. And most of them used as tourism place.
- Because of religion reason, almost all restaurants have vegetarian menu and non vegetarian menu. And hard to find fish processed menu. For your information red dot mark on package means non vegetarian and green dot mark on package means vegetarian.
- All retail products sold are marked with maximum retail price (MRP) so the shop cannot charge the consumer over the MRP, but sometime in some shops for example when we are in rest area between Jaipur and Delhi, they sold every retail product above MRP and the same with shop beside Jama Masjid. Besides that, in Indonesia date of expired is written on that package but in New Delhi only written date of production but with adding information such as "best before four months from manufacture" (for some products only).
- We can find tap water or public drinking water for free in some public areas. But should be reconsidered the hygiene! ==> Safe To Drink?
- I like Feast ice cream Wall's but here in New Delhi all kind of ice cream are too sweet so I don't like. I think, the sweet flavor maybe is influenced by their Indian Sweets (Laddu and etc).
- All museums, all temples, many tourism places, and almost all markets are closed on Monday. I don't know the reason why, but I only know the reason for market, my teacher said that every Monday they use that day for life cycle business.
- Many supermarkets/restaurants don't use plastic bag, and if you don't have bag to put in your stuff you need to pay for that bag, and of course no plastic bag or sometime they give you paper bag for free. Seem they aware about the negative effect of plastic bag.
I paid Rs 12 - When I was traveling from Haridwar to Delhi in the night time, I saw many cars in opposite road use distance lights even they are in close distance, in my opinion, this things is quite dangerous because its glare can make the driver can't see the road clearly.
- When you travel out of Delhi, your cellular telecommunication will be subject to roaming because use other network but only for sending SMS. Besides that, every car must pay taxes when arrive in different area. For example if your car is Delhi area car and you visit Punjab so you must pay taxes for that.
